Former Dawson's Creek star Kerr Smith is moving from Capeside to Riverdale.

During the Riverdale presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed Smith had boarded the Archie Comics-based series for its upcoming fourth season. Smith will appear in a recurring capacity as Mr. Honey, the new principal of Riverdale High School. Mr. Honey is slated to make his first appearance in the second episode of Season 4, "Chapter Fifty-Nine: Fast Times at Riverdale High."

When Riverdale Season 3 came to a close, all of the town's residents who had been indoctrinated by The Farm mysteriously vanished. Among them was Riverdale High's incumbent principal, Waldo Weatherbee. With Weatherbee MIA, the school is decidedly in need of a new figurehead as Archie and the gang return for their senior year.

However, the main characters' experience with Mr. Honey may not be a particularly enjoyable one. Aguirre-Sacasa describes the character as "a bit of a hard-ass who takes a harder line with the students this year, especially with the seniors." Though, considering the fact that the job didn't pan out particularly well for Principal Weatherbee and Principal Featherhead, Honey's two known predecessors, maybe he's the one who should tread carefully.

As previously mentioned, well before joining the cast of The CW's Riverdale, Smith was known for his role on The WB's Dawson's Creek. Smith boarded the late-'90s teen drama during its second season as main character Jack McPhee, sticking around until the show concluded with Season 6 in 2003. Smith has also appeared in such series as The Fosters and Life Unexpected.
