Kelly Ripa Joins Riverdale as [SPOILER]'s Mistress

Kelly Ripa has joined the cast of The CW's Riverdale and will play a mistress to Hiram Lodge, who also happens to be her husband, Mark Consuelos.

The already strained relationship between Veronica Lodge and her father Hiram is about to get a lot more complicated, thanks to Kelly Ripa's casting as Hiram Lodge's mistress in the third season of Riverdale.

Ripa announced her casting in The CW series Riverdale, based on the characters of Archie Comics, in a post to her Instagram page. "It’s a family affair........Hiram’s mistress. 23 years of auditioning for a role I was born to play. Coming soon to the @thecwriverdale," the actor and talk show host wrote. Ripa is, of course, married to Mark Consuelos, who portrays Hiram Lodge in the series. Further adding to the notion of a "family affair," Ripa and Consuelos' son Michael is set to appear as a young Hiram Lodge in the upcoming flashback episode "The Midnight Club," in which the young stars of the series will portray their parents during their time at Riverdale High.

Us Weekly reports Ripa will portray the confident Mrs. Mulwray, who's described as “a beautiful, icy femme fatale who gets caught up in a conspiracy that’s much bigger than she initially realized.”

Riverdale airs on Wednesday nights at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, and stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Miller, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick and Luke Perry.
