The CW has reeled Lucy Hale back in. The Pretty Little Liars star, who also headlined the network's series Life Sentence, will return to play the lead role in the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hale's Katy is "bold, big-hearted and independent and a New Yorker with dreams of being a fashion designer. When she's not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she's navigating friendship and dating in the big city."

Hale joins Riverdale cast member Ashleigh Murray, who will reprise her role as Josie and the Pussycats frontwoman Josie McCoy. Together with Jorge/Ginger Lopez (Jonny Beauchamp) and Pepper Smith (Julia Chan), Katy and Josie will pursue their respective dreams in New York. Camille Hyde and Lucien Laviscount will also appear as Alexandra and Alexander Cabot, two wealthy siblings who are New York socialites with prominent roles in the upcoming series.

Though best known for her role as Aria Montgomery in Pretty Little Liars, Hale has also appeared in Truth or Dare, Scream 4 and Bionic Woman. She also starred in The CW's Life Sentence, where she played a young woman who discovered her terminal cancer was cured. The series only ran for one season.

Katy Keene is created by Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as an executive producer and co-writer of the pilot with Michael Grassi. Maggie Kiley (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) has signed on to direct the pilot.
