The CW's Riverdale has found its Edgar Evernever. Chad Michael Murray, perhaps best known for his role as Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill, has been cast in a recurring role as the mysterious cult leader.

According to the official description, Murray's character is "the enigmatic leader of the cult-like Farm... Edgar arrives in Riverdale to spread his teachings and heal the ravaged soul of this once wholesome town. Edgar is a charming, handsome guru, but is he hiding a more sinister agenda?"

The Farm's presence has loomed over the series for quite some time now. In Season 1, Betty Cooper's sister Polly attempted to run there with Jason Blossom when she found out she was pregnant. When the Black Hood reared his ugly head in Season 2, she moved there and gave birth to her twins Dagwood and Juniper, whose names were inspired the lessons she had learned on the Farm. Now, in Season 3, even Alice has gotten involved. When the Black Hood turned out to be her husband Hal, she sought solace at the Farm, brushing off Betty's warnings about its cult-like mentality. The Farm's vice-grip on Alice continues to strengthen, with Alice donating Betty's college fund to the Farm in a recent episode.

Though Edgar himself hasn't appeared on the series, he has been mentioned frequently by Alice and her Farm friends. Additionally, his daughter Evelyn has started classes at Riverdale High and even founded a high school chapter of the Farm there. Evelyn has consistently undermined Betty's attempts to remove the Farm's influence over Riverdale.

Airing Wednesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Miller, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick and Luke Perry.
