The Riverdale Register is not a good news source. And Betty's mom, Alice Cooper, is clearly a bad editor. At least, she doesn't recognize a "top story" when she sees one.

This is made abundantly clear in last week's episode of the Archie Comics-based series, “Chapter Eighteen: When a Stranger Calls." In it, we see a glimpse of Cooper's paper, The Riverdale Register, which sidelines the story "Local Man Cures Cancer" in favor of a story about a Northside teenager getting stabbed by a Southside Serpent.

This was pointed out in a Reddit post, which caught the blink-and-you-miss-it "Easter egg" in the scene where Veronica’s mom Hermione Lodge is reading the paper to her devious husband, Hiram.

Clearly, there's some media bias going on at The Riverdale Register -- a level of downplaying that's Fox News-Russia Investigation-level.
