A new rumor claims the identity of Rey's father will be revealed in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. And the father? None other than Han Solo. The rumor was originally posted as a Patreon exclusive for MakingStarWars.net, before being posted in full on Reddit.According to the rumor, years before The Force Awakens, Han Solo and Leia became estranged when Leia started training in the Force under Luke. Leia returned to Han after ending her training, without completing it. Before they reunited, however, Han had an affair with a mystery woman, who gave birth to a child: Rey.Rey is, therefore, not a Skywalker, but she is related to the last of the Skywalker line: Ben Solo.RELATED: Why Star Wars Fans Are Excited About a Knights of the Old Republic MovieTo complicate matters, Ben Solo learned of the affair, and his violent reaction to the affair led to him to be sent to Luke for training. However, it is unconfirmed if Leia knows about her husband's affair and/or love child. If this rumor is true, it is unclear why Kylo lied to Rey about her parents' identity, though it might tie into how Kylo indicated Rey would be disappointed knowing a father figure. In the original line from The Force Awakens, Kylo appeared to refer to his own father, but it could be indicative of some bigger connection to the two of them.Lando will tell Finn and Poe the secret -- though, according to the rumor, Rey will hear about this somewhere else. It is unknown who the mother is, but it is not Keri Russell's character Zorri.RELATED: Does Kylo Turn Against the Knights of Ren in The Rise of Skywalker? It is vital to remember that this is just a rumor. Jason Ward of MakingStarWars.net did respond to the rumor in the following tweet:

This indicates that Ward felt the rumor was interesting enough to share, but it was not supported enough to post on the website. While this rumor is interesting, it cannot be confused for any official plot point in the upcoming film. It remains a rumor. Audiences will learn the truth when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out.
