The following contains spoilers for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, now streaming on Netflix.

In Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, the Turtles faced their deadliest threat yet. The Krang siblings came over from the Prison Dimension, all thanks to Leonardo's arrogance. It resulted in the aliens using the Technodrome, mutating most of New York and Raphael as they built an army as part of their hive mind.

Thankfully, the Splinter Clan worked through their inner demons, united and followed the lead of Leo, who finally got his head on straight. It resulted in them rescuing Raph and barely scraping out a victory, but while Raph and Donatello had parts to play in the finale, most of what the Splinter Clan had to celebrate came thanks to Michelangelo. And interestingly, this was all due to the film making him a better version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Doctor Strange.

In this TMNT universe, the Turtles are mystical ninjas, with Leo using katanas that could teleport him, Donnie rocking a staff that shoots out energy blasts and Raph being able to create energy constructs. Mikey's powers, though, revolve around him using his nunchucks to control flames and light. In fact, in this continuity, Mikey was seen as somewhat of a Sorcerer Supreme.

He evolved from years of supernatural studies, even rocking a pose similar to Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange from Avengers: Infinity War. But in Mikey's case, he didn't need to study an Infinity Stone or use one to fix the past -- he was actually a living, breathing Time Stone himself. Mikey harnessed all his energy in the opening act, creating a time rift that sent Casey Jones back in time so he could help the younger turtles stop the Krang invasion that ravaged the future. Sadly, Mikey died as he used all his chi, but he set up something less complicated than the Avengers' time-heist.

However, Mikey's heroics didn't stop there because, unlike Strange, who had no choice but to let Iron Man die, younger Mikey wasn't letting his brother perish. Shocked by Casey telling him what he'd grow up to be and the fact future Leo also died while sending Casey back, Mikey decided to level up when Leo got stuck in the Prison Dimension with the Prime Krang. No one thought he had it in him, but Mikey channeled his angst and opened the portal so they could pluck Leo out. But as the Turtles and their allies all had a pizza celebration, Casey wasn't surprised because, as his sensei Leo told him, Mikey was always the key to creating a better world.
