A teaser for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed a dark version of Rey wielding a double-bladed lightsaber. In the final film, this version of Rey appeared briefly in the ruins of the Death Star II, and the regular version of the heroine only used a single-bladed lightsaber. However, concept art from The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker shows Rey using the weapon elsewhere.

The images, which were posted by @fpdlffh on Twitter, reveal Rey seemingly training against multiple droids. One image shows her using two lightsabers, while the other shows a double-bladed lightsaber reminiscent of her iconic staff. The color of the double-bladed lightsaber isn't entirely clear from the image.

Originally slated for release in December, The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will now release in March. The book is published by Abrams and authored by Phil Szostak. According to its description,  The art book contains "the official behind-the-scenes concept, production, and post-production art for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker."

As of writing, The Rise of Skywalker has made just over $1 billion worldwide, joining the ranks of several other Disney films released in 2019 to reach that significant milestone. Although the film has an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has proven a lot more divisive amongst critics and only holds a 52%.

Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong' o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film is now in theaters.
