The Ripley's Believe It or Not! franchise has found just the right personality to host its latest display of the strange and amazing: Bruce Campbell.An announcement appeared today on the Ripley's Twitter, bringing the news that Campbell was officially confirmed for the new show, which will air in 2019 on the Travel Channel.

Campbell is best known for his starring role in the Evil Dead trilogy of cult horror-comedy movies, and he has also appeared in the three Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi. Although widely adored by comic book fans, he has moved away from the genre in his recent work.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! dates back to 1918, originally conceived as a comic panel featured in American newspapers, describing and illustrating bizarre stunts and phenomena. Over the years, it was adapted into many formats, from radio and television to the international chain of museums, which is perhaps the most well-known use of the name today. There have been multiple Believe It or Not TV series' in the past, which were met with varying levels of success. The first was in 1949 and was hosted by founder James Ripley himself, and the most recent one aired from 2000 to 2003 on TBS.

The new show is said to be "coming soon," with an exact release date not yet announced. It will air on the Travel Channel.
