Rip Hunter's Mission Changes On "DC's Legends of Tomorrow"

SPOILER WARNING: Major spoilers from "River of Time," tonight's episode of The CW's "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," follow. At publication, the episode has yet to air on the west coast.

Throughout the first season of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) has doggedly pursued Vandal Savage (Capser Crump), the immortal responsible for the death of his children and the potential downfall of humanity. Last week, he and his team finally managed to capture the villain, only to keep him alive in hopes of bringing a brainwashed Hawkman back to his former mental state.

Things get even more complicated in tonight's episode, "River of Time," for reasons we get into during our full recap. Just know that by the end, Rip has presented Savage to the Time Masters on a silver platter. His hopes soon get dashed, however, when his former employers imprison him, revealing they're in cahoots with Savage. Although Rip should have known better (after all, the Masters have been hunting him this entire time), it's still a shock that they have ties to someone so villainous. Then again, it could be for reasons more altruistic than Rip realizes. As they tell him, "You were never able to take the long view of history." Maybe this is a case of having to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Here are our thoughts on the matter, and full recap of the episode.
