Ring of Honor's Death Before Dishonor event returns to pay-per-view in Lakeland, Florida this September.

This past Sunday, ROH held this year's iteration of its long-running Best in the World PPV, the promotion's first event to take place in front of a live crowd in over a year and a half. During the event, it was announced that the Death Before Dishonor XVIII PPV would take place at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland this September. It was later confirmed on ROH's website that Death Before Dishonor XVIII is set to air on Sunday, Sept. 12.

Death Before Dishonor XVIII is the first PPV of its name since Death Before Dishonor XVII in 2019. ROH's Death Before Dishonor series of events -- which has been a staple of the promotion since 2003 -- did not receive a new installment in 2020. Death Before Dishonor XVIII will also be the first ROH PPV event to emanate from Lakeland in nearly four and a half years.

Death Before Dishonor XVIII will see the coronation of the inaugural ROH Women's World Champion after the Women of Honor World Championship was retired this past January. During the ROH 19th Anniversary Show in March, ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett announced the Quest for Gold tournament to crown the first ROH Women's World Champion. The brackets for the tournament, as well as the new title belt's design, were revealed at Best in the World this past Sunday.

The Quest for Gold tournament is scheduled to begin on the July 31 edition of Ring of Honor Wrestling, with former ROH ring announcer Lenny Leonard serving as a guest commentator. The final match in the tournament to determine the ROH Women's World Champion will take place at Death Before Dishonor XVIII.

The first round of the tournament will see the matchups of Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C, Mandy Leon vs. a yet-to-be-announced opponent, Max the Impaler vs. Holidead, Alex Gracia vs. Miranda Alize, Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy, Allysin Kay vs. Willow and Marti Belle vs. Trish Adora. Additionally, Angelina Love received a first-round bye and has automatically advanced to the quarter-finals, where she will face the winner of the Max the Impaler/Holidead match.
