Spencer Grammer, who voices the character of Summer Smith on the Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty, was slashed in the arm while attempting to quell an altercation in New York City on Friday night. However, Grammer -- the daughter of Frasier and X-Men alum Kelsey Grammer and actor Doreen Alderman -- says she expects to make a speedy recovery following the incident.

Grammer, 36, was reportedly among those attacked outside The Black Ant restaurant in Manhattan after she, a friend, 32, and other bystanders confronted a man wielding a knife in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. The New York Police Department subsequently confirmed to USA Today that a "36-year-old female victim and a 32-year-old male attempted to break up a dispute" between a man with an "unidentified sharp instrument" and restaurant patrons. The incident took place on Friday at about 11:30 p.m., with the victims being "transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue and treated for non-life threatening lacerations."

In her own statement to USA Today, Grammer explained that she "sustained a laceration on [her] arm" and that her friend "was stabbed in the back, but thankfully he suffered no serious internal injuries." She continued, "My friend and I did what anyone else would do in the same situation. Several others, predominantly women, were also attempting to prevent the altercation from escalating."

Grammer went on to say that she and her friend "expect to recover quickly" and expressed her gratitude towards the first responders and the staff of the Bellevue Hospital, "who provided us with excellent care. They fought an incredible battle this year. It was very moving for us to have the opportunity to thank them in person."
