Zack Snyder, director of Army of the Dead and Justice League, said that he would consider directing the potential Rick and Morty film.

While making an appearance on The Film Junkee Vodka Stream, Snyder spoke about directing a fully comedic film. "I don't have like a straight comedy that I can think, you know, that's like wall to wall straight comedy," Snyder shared. "If I did the Rick and Morty Movie that's probably about the closest I'd get." Later, he revealed that he suggested directing a short live-action scene to put at the end of one of the episodes of the animated series. "You know what I wanted to do... my suggestion was to shoot, to do, just like, one of the end teasers in live-action," Snyder explained.

With the success of his Netflix zombie film Army of the Dead and his infamous four-hour director's cut of Justice League, Snyder has been asked about pursuing a litany of different film genres. While Snyder's films feature comedic moments, such as comedian Tig Notaro's sarcastic pilot character in Army of the Dead, he is typically known for his dark, focused dramatic works.

Snyder recently considered directing a Dragon Ball Z film or live-action anime remake when asked during an interview with Tyrone Magnus. "Yeah, I would consider that," Snyder responded. "I mean, if it came around, but definitely I would do an anime remake or live-action. That would be fun because I love animation and I've been watching a fair amount." Netflix confirmed Snyder will direct the first two episodes of the spinoff anime series Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas.

While there are currently no official plans for a film version of the hit adult animated series Rick and Morty, one of the show's writers and producers Scott Marder believes that there is great potential for a Rick and Morty film. "I do think it'll happen, I do," Marder shared. "It'd be daunting. I wouldn't be shocked if there's one that comes down the pipe someday." However, he also expressed concern that a Rick and Morty movie would require an inspired concept due to the show's wild nature. "I feel like every episode is a movie," Marder confessed. "I'd like to see what a movie would be, it'd feel like the equivalent of a trilogy. We just pack so much in. It'd have to be pretty, pretty epic."

The hit animated series premiered its fifth season with the episode, "Mort Dinner Rick Andre." The episode is currently available to watch on Adult Swim's website, as well as being available to watch for free on YouTube.

Rick and Morty stars the voices of Justin Roiland, Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer and Sarah Chalke. New episodes premiere every Sunday at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim.
