It's been a long time coming, but Adult Swim has finally confirmed Rick and Morty will return for the second half of Season 4 on May 3.

Season 4 debuted in Nov. 2019 and bowed out with "Rattlestar Ricklactica" on Dec. 15. Fans have always known there are five more episodes left before Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon complete Season 4's story, and now the release date is edging a little bit closer.

A new trailer for "Rick and Morty: The Other Five" is set to Thin Lizzy's iconic "The Boys Are Back in Town." As well as confirming a May 3 return, the 95-second trailer gives a whirlwind tour of what Rick Sanchez and his grandson are up to. In typical Rick and Morty style, Season 4B is leaning on the sci-fi elements of the cartoon, thanks to lightsaber battles, face-huggers and plenty of dimension-hopping.

While the first five episodes of Season 4 were largely new outings, it looks like 4B will have a more overarching tie to previous seasons. Although 4A included the return of Mr. Meeseeks and Mr. Poopybutthole, the 4B trailer has a number of surprise cameos. As well as the return of the adorable Snuffles from Season 1, Summer is shown facing off against former best friend Tammy. With Summer back to take vengeance on Tammy, will there be closure for characters like Birderson and Squanchy?

Thankfully, the April 1 announcement of "The Other Five" isn't an April Fool's prank. Adult Swim teased there would be more news coming soon, and the release date follows in the footsteps of Adult Swim's marketing campaign for Season 3. Viewers will remember how "The Rickshank Redemption" dropped online with no warning on April 1, 2017.

The gap between seasons of Rick and Morty has become something of a running joke since its premiere back in 2013, but news of Season 4B comes just after Adult Swim showcased an anime-inspired short film called "Samurai and Shogun." With a multi-season order for Harmon and Roiland, expect to see plenty more episodes once the credits roll on Season 4. As more and more shows are halted due to COVID-19, at least there's some good news that Rick and Morty will be back soon.
