On the heels of its strong Season 2 premiere, Adult Swim has ordered a third season of the animated comedy "Rick and Morty."
Debuting in December 2013, the series follows sociopathic scientist Rick as he drags his easily influenced grandson Morty on dangerous trips across the universe (they even dropped in on "The Simpsons," quite literally, this year). In the second season, the rest of the family is drawn into Rick's intergalactic misadventures as new threats and mysteries of his secret past are revealed.
The July 26 Season 2 premiere ranked No. 1 in its time slot among all key adults and men, and registered triple-digit growth over the 2013 series premiere.
“It's an honor to see Rick and Morty join the exclusive club of shows with over 19 episodes,” said co-creator and executive producer Dan Harmon said in a statement. “It's time to demand that the network allow us to draw the characters going to Hawaii.”
"Rick and Morty" airs Sundays at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim.
