While Rick and Morty is set to continue its adventures on TV with Season 5, one of the show's producers weighed in on the possibility of the series receiving its own movie.

According to GamesRadar, writer and producer Scott Marder could see the potential for a movie in the series' future. He said, "I do think it'll happen, I do." Marder continued, "It'd be daunting. I wouldn't be shocked if there's one that comes down the pipe someday."

One of the points of consideration that Marder brought up was how adapting the show to movie length would require a lot of creative energy. The show is known for having fast-paced comedy that rarely slows down, constantly throwing new and wild concepts at its audience. Marder remarked, "I feel like every episode is a movie." He continued, "I'd like to see what a movie would be, it'd feel like the equivalent of a trilogy. We just pack so much in. It'd have to be pretty, pretty epic."

The high expectations for a creative experience were further reflected upon by Spencer Grammer, the voice behind Morty's sister Summer. She joked about the scale such an experience would require, saying, "It'd have to be something so big." She joked, "It's gonna be like a 3D interactive movie that also has like a theme park… I don't know if you can just do a straight movie. It wouldn't be good enough… I feel like it has to be more than that."

Grammer also cast doubt on providing a satisfactory movie experience since the show is already balancing so many other plot points and characters. "There's just so much in each episode that's canonical as well and continues to build on itself over these many seasons. It'd be difficult to feel satisfied with just a movie," she said. However, the show works more episodically, occasionally teasing underlining story beats such as Evil Morty, while mostly sticking to a series of unrelated adventures. The Season 5 trailer similarly avoided showing any reoccurring narrative threads, while continuing to promise more of the insane adventures the show is known for.

Rick and Morty stars the voices of Justin Roiland, Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer and Sarah Chalke. Season 5 premieres Sunday, June 20 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim.
