However, there are a few locations that have become a mainstay in the show. One of these is Rick's garage. Though he lives with his daughter, Beth, and her sadsack husband Jerry, Rick has made the garage his own. It's here where viewers find Rick working on his latest projects that include perfecting Interdimensional Travel and turning himself into a talking pickle. However, despite spending a lot of time in the garage, there are definitely some shocking things fans never noticed.

Nothing in the garage is what it seems. On the outside, it looks like your standard size garage containing a small laboratory. But as fans would expect from Rick, there's always more than meets the eye.

During the episode "Total Rickall," Rick turns a few knobs on the washing machine to reveal an entire armory of technologically-advanced weapons. He and Morty load-up and proceed to eliminate the alien parasites that multiply by creating fake memories in people's minds. Just a normal day in the Smith household.

Fans will remember Doofus Rick from the episode "Close Rick-Counters Of  The Rick Kind. The Rick Sanchez of Dimension J19 Zeta 7 struck up a friendship with Jerry, who is initially taken aback by the genuine kindness of a Rick.

The two bond over Jerry's coin collection, make ovenless brownies and Doofus Rick displays an emotional intelligence that all other Ricks lack. Jerry and Doofus Rick are both outcasts, constantly berated by their peers. Although not confirmed, it is likely that Jerry framed the photo of Doofus Rick and placed it in the garage.

8 The Box Of Time Travel Stuff

This box appears in almost every episode, and it represents a number of things. Firstly, it speaks for Rick's brilliance. Time travel is an extremely complex problem that is not close to being solved by the scientific community.

It would open up the world to so many possibilities, and yet Rick treats it like it's some old childhood participation trophy, boxed away in the garage to collect dust. However, the box is also a metaphor for viewers to appreciate. Time travel has become a cliche within the sci-fi genre, and the creators of Rick And Morty want fans to know that time travel has been shelved.

7 Not Just Dead Flies

Does everything in the garage have a purpose? It would seem so. In "The Rickshank Redemption,Rick has been captured by the Galactic Federation, who interrogate the mad scientist hoping to obtain the secrets to interdimensional travel. Summer, struggling to accept her grandfather's situation, attempts to save Rick by rearranging the dead flies in the garage, thinking it could lead to some hidden answer.

Unfortunately, nothing happens but Rick does return to the family by the end of the episode. What fans might have missed is Rick returning to the garage and casually rearranging the dead flies in a way that opens up a secret room.

6 The Underground Prison

With every episode consisting of a number of insane events, it's easy to forget some crazy happenings that were a secondary storyline. In "Autoerotic Assimilation," Jerry enters the garage looking for a weed whacker. Beth confronts Jerry for being in the garage without Rick present, but after hearing some unusual noises, the pair decide to investigate.

What they find is an imprisoned alien located in an underground lair. The couple argue, which is too much for the alien (and fans), who breaks free and promptly leaves earth.

5 Even More Secret Compartments

Rick And Morty - Summer

Despite his endless lists of achievements, Rick continues to surprise the viewers. In "The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy," Summer and her boyfriend Ethan break up. After her ex-boyfriend starts dating another girl, Summer attempts to enlarge her breasts with the Morphizer-XE, a device created by Rick to enlarge objects.

Whilst searching for the device, Summer moves a pin on the Bulletin Board, opening a secret compartment containing sci-fi stuff. Summer appears unfazed, suggesting she is now used to Rick and his ways.

4 A Basement Full Of Clones

Following the suspicious death of a lunch lady at Summer and Morty's school, Rick confirms the existence of vampires, who were responsible for the murder. Shocked, Summer and Morty ask Rick to help them take care of the vampire problem, which Rick agrees to, shrinking himself into a younger body in order to appear like a regular high school kid. The vampire is destroyed, but Rick's unwillingness to leave his youthful body troubles his grandkids, who help him realize that this isn't sustainable.

Rick enters the secret lair in his garage and destroys multiple clones of himself, stating it's back to the drawing board.

3 The Clock On The Wall

If you look at the clock on the garage wall, there doesn't appear to be anything special about it. There are only two hands, it doesn't change position and so far it doesn't seem to lead to a secret location.

In fact, there's nothing unique about the clock at all. However, some diehard fans might have noticed the clock almost always displays the same time, 2 o'clock. There has only been one occasion where the clock is different, showing 3 o'clock during the episode "Anatomy Park." Knowing the creators' obsession for detail, this could be important. But so far, viewers are left scratching their heads.

2 Rick's Mysterious Helmet

Rick is always working on something, easily inventing gadgets that change the very fabric of the universe before moving on to the next. There's nothing he can't do. Or so it would seem. But some eagle-eyed fans might have noticed the Helmet Rick fiddles with throughout the show, continually adding to it and making adjustments.

Located on the workbench in his garage, Rick is unable to perfect this invention. But what is the Helmet for? A number of fan theories have circulated, with some fans claiming it's a Back To The Future reference. Whatever the helmet is for, it's something Rick can't fix.

1 Birdperson's Body

Birdperson and Morty

Birdperson is Rick's oldest and dearest friend. The pair fought the Galactic Federation, formed a band and Birdperson invited Rick to his wedding. If Rick is capable of having friends, then Birdperson deserves that title. Rick witnessed his friend's death during his wedding, but the Galactic Federation resurrected Birdperson, who then adopted the title PhoenixPerson.

As part cyborg, Birdperson battled Rick before being defeated by the Smith family. Presumed dead, the final episode of season 4 revealed Rick salvaged his friend's body in hope of one day putting him back together.
