A new clip has Rick and Morty showcase the possibilities of the Bechdel Test while on a death-defying mission.
As their oxygen dwindles on an expedition deep into outer space, Rick explains that, for a film or television episode to pass the Bechdel Test -- developed by Alison Bechdel in 1985 -- two women with names must have a conversation without mentioning a man.
To illustrate this progressive content test, the action shifts back to Morty's home where we find his mother Beth and sister Summer comparing their "special time" over tea. Of course, all while going out of their way to avoid mentioning any male figures.
True to the nonsensical animated series' form, this descends into wacky fun as the two use their special time powers to defeat a swarm of female scorpions before being congratulated over the phone by a certain Supreme Court Justice who bears more than a striking resemblance to Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, the second half of Ricky and Morty Season 4 airs Sundays on Adult Swim. Seasons 1 through 3 are available to stream on Hulu.
