The climactic story arc of the popular anime series Dragon Ball Super had the strongest warriors from the Dragon Ball Multiverse assemble for the Tournament of Power, an ambitious martial arts contest, for the fate of their worlds. Among the colorful figures appearing to challenge Goku and the Z Fighters from the franchise's main world of Universe 7 was Ribrianne, the most powerful champion from Universe 2.

Obsessed with beauty and love, Ribrianne's role was expanded following her manga appearance to play a more prominent role in the anime as Universe 2's last hope for survival.

RIBRIANNE ORIGIN

The anime introduces Ribrianne's humanoid base form Brianne de Chateau, a petite young woman with green hair. After successfully auditioning to represent Universe 2 in the Tournament of Power, Brianne plans to use the Super Dragon Balls to become the Goddess of Love for the entire multiverse should she emerge victorious. This motivation reveals that Brianne is driven primarily by love and beauty; though her initial interpretation of beauty is especially superficial, visible through her disgust of Krillin's physical appearance.

With Universe 2 as one of the few worlds observing the Tournament of Power from afar, Brianne is adored by the general public from her homeworld. Despite this, she is well aware of her own limitations and timidly hides when confronted alone by superior opponents before her own elimination from the contest of champions.

RIBRIANNE'S POWERS AND ABILITIES

Given her obsession with the concepts of love and beauty, many of Brianne's attacks are named accordingly, including her signature energy attack, the Pretty Cannon. Brianne coordinates attacks and techniques with the rest of the Universe 2 team, making them visibly more dangerous together but vulnerable when isolated. As with most of Universe 2's fighters, Brianne can absorb the love energy from others to grow even more powerful, triggering her transformations.

Brianne's transformation into Ribrianne gives her an antenna to also fire energy blasts while changing into a more rounder, corpulent being. In this form, Ribrianne can fight on par with Vegeta while he is transformed as a Super Saiyan. After receiving love energy from her teammates, Ribrianne transforms into Super Ribrianne to grow more powerful and develop wings that boost her speed and flight. After receiving even more love energy, Super Ribrianne grows into a kaiju-sized version of herself known as Giant Ribrianne, boasting even more combat power.

RIBRIANNE IN THE TOURNAMENT OF POWER

After an initial skirmish with Android 17, Ribrianne fought against Vegeta, inadvertently defeating the Universe 10 champion Dyrasem in the crossfire. Ribrianne would later fight against Goku in his base form, causing her to transform into Super Ribrianne in an effort to turn the tide of battle. Their bout leads Jiren to enter the fight, with Ribrianne retreating to allow Goku and Jiren to focus on one another.

Realizing her team is outclassed, Ribrianne transforms into Giant Ribrianne in a desperate attempt to eliminate Android 18 from the tournament, trapping her in an energy cage powered by love. However, 18 uses her own love for Krillin to break free and eliminate Ribrianne from the competition. From the sidelines, Brianne despairs over her loss but is comforted by the sight of 18 and Krillin's clear love for one another, finally realizing love and beauty is more than skin-deep. After Android 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to restore Universe 2 upon his eventual victory, Brianne and her teammates receive a hero's welcome as they return home, with Brianne visibly moved by her supporter's adoration for her despite her defeat.
