Luckily, the wait is coming to an end with Re:Zero Season 2 said to be released in April 2020. With Season 2 finally having a release date, audiences may finally get some of their questions answered. Here are ten burning questions that are keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

10 Why Is The Jealous Witch Connected To Subaru?

When Subaru discovers that he has a resurrection ability called "Return by Death," he uses it to solve his problems and problems of others around him. However, when things get too out of hand, Subaru tries to ask for help by telling others about his ability. Unfortunately, when he tries to talk the Jealous Witch is able to grab at his heart and stop him. "Return by Death" is Subaru connection to the Jealous Witch, but the question is "Why?" Why is the Jealous Witch able to threaten Subaru? Why does Subaru have this connect to the Witch of Envy without ever meeting or interacting with her?

9 Does Roswaal Have Any Ulterior Motive?

Roswaal in Rezero

Subaru was brought to a mansion after helping Emilia reclaim her insignia. While in the mansion, Subaru meets the owner of the manor, Roswaal L. Mathers. In season one, fans learn that Roswaal is Emilia's supporter and benefactor for her campaign to win the throne. Roswaal says that he believes that Emilia should be the next queen, but is that his own goal? Does Roswaal really simply just want Emilia to be queen or is this just the first step to something bigger? Does Roswaal have something more to offer than just support?

8 Who Sent Elsa Granhiert?

Elsa is an assassin hired to obtain Emilia's insignia. She is Subaru's first antagonist in the series. She is a skilled fighter who kills and completes her goals several times. However, in the final timeline that Subaru creates, she is defeated by Reinhard.

In her defeat, she is still able to make a quick escape. Elsa still being free is dangerous, but what is more deadly is not only who hired her. Who is Elsa's employer that wanted Emilia's insignia? And will this person send Elsa again or someone else even worse?

7 What Is Emilia's Connection To The Jealous Witch?

Emilia is bashful in Re:Zero against a blue sky with clouds

Subaru may not be the only one with a deep connection to the Jealous Witch. Emilia explained to Subaru that many people hate her because they get her confused with the Jealous Witch, Satella. The two look very similar so it is kinda hard not to agree with people that feel this way. The question, however, is does Emilia's and Satella's appearance being similar just a coincidence or is there something more? Is Emilia the key to releasing the Jealous Witch? Does Emilia really have nothing to do with the Witch of Envy like she claims?

6 Is Emilia Truly Puck's daughter?

When Emilia and Puck are first introduced, fans are told that Emilia is a spirit arts user and Puck is her familiar. With Puck by her side, Emilia's magic power is extremely great. However, when the Witch Cult attacked Roswaal's mansion, Puck goes crazy showing off his true form. While in this form, Puck claims that his daughter, Emilia, is dead and he now has nothing to live for.

With Emilia's dead, Puck claims that he will destroy the entire world. This situation really proposes an interesting question. Is Puck just a familiar or is he truly Emilia's father? Are the two related or does Puck just think of Emilia as his daughter? Hopefully more on their relationship will be revealed in season 2.

5 How Did Subaru Get To This New World?

This is an interesting mystery to think about. In many isekai anime, the main character suddenly being brought to a new world isn't really the core of the story. However, most of them do have some sort of reason for the transportation. Main characters are normally summoned by someone of the new world or main characters are killed and reincarnated in a new world. However, when it comes to Subaru in Re:Zero, he simply ends up in a fantasy world. Is that really all there is to it? Was Subaru really just brought to this fantasy world just to create an extraordinary isekai story? Or is there a darker reason for Subaru's presence in the new world that has yet to be revealed?

4 What Changes Subaru's Save Point?

Throughout the series, Subaru uses Return by Death to keep the people he grew to care about from death. He has saved his gang on more than one occasion and gained a vast amount of information using this ability. As Subaru gains success, the places where Subaru is resurrected or save points changes.

It is great that Subaru is able to achieve so much and progress, but the mystery is what affects Subaru's save points. So far, the series gives no hints as to what changes where Subaru resets. Is the Jealous Witch affecting this change? Or is Subaru meeting some sort of condition without even realizing it?

3 Who Is "The One?"

Petelgeuse is getting frightened in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World

During Subaru's conflict with the Witch Cult, he encounters the Sin Archbishop of the Witch Cult, Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti. Petelgeuse is one of the leaders of the cult and the representative of the sin of sloth. He is a hard die follower of the witch. However, in the final moment of his death, he encounters the witch who tells him that he isn't "The One." What exactly does this mean? Is "The One" a good thing or a bad thing? Since Subaru is connected to the witch, does that mean that Subaru is "The One?"

2 Who Are The Other Sin Representatives?

Petelgeuse is the sin representative of sloth. As the Archbishop of sloth, Petelgeuse uses the ability called "Authority of Sloth." With the Authority of Sloth, Petelgeuse is able to summon Unseen Hand which is an invisible force of energy that is shaped like a hand. Since there are generally seven sins in stories, does that mean that other sin representatives will appear in the next season? Has another sin representative already been revealed without people being aware of it? Is there a character who has assisted Subaru that is actually a sin representative?

1 Is Subaru A Potential Sin Representative Candidate?

Although Subaru does his best to try and do what's right, it is no secret that he is filled with a lot of pride. His pride has often times gotten him in trouble or damaged his relationship with other characters. It is because of this that it has been speculated that Subaru might be the sin representative of pride. This also might be the reason why Subaru has some type of connection with the witch. Does the Witch of Envy want Subaru to represent pride? Does Subaru have the Return by Death because he is a sin representative? Hopefully, Re:Zero season 2 answers at least some of these questions.
