There are several Resident Evil-related projects currently in development, one being a reboot from Constantin Film. Since its announcement, a number of details have been released, with the exception of the movie's title. That changed recently.

IGN reported that Constantin Film and director Johannes Roberts revealed the official title of the upcoming film at SXSW: Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The movie will adapt the events of Capcom's first two video games in the franchise and feature characters such as Chris and Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Leon S. Kennedy. A poster for the Resident Evil reboot was released earlier, though it does not bear the official title of the film, bearing the names of its star characters, each one drawn from one of the video games.

Netflix is also developing several Resident Evil projects, including an anime film, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and a live-action spinoff television series that revolves around Albert Wesker's children. For clarity, these projects are unrelated to Constantin Film's upcoming reboot.

Written and directed by Johannes Roberts, Resident Evil stars Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine and Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield. The film also includes Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Neal McDonough, Donal Logue, Chad Rook and Lily Gao. Released by Constantin Films, the movie arrives in theaters Sept. 3.
