Brian Irons debuted in 1998's Resident Evil 2 as the head of Raccoon City's police. The role should be a familiar one for Logue, who spent five seasons playing Detective Bullock on Fox's Gotham. The character even briefly served as the GCPD's chief. Logue is also known for a number of comic book roles, with supporting parts in Blade and Ghost Rider. As for video game movies, Logue appeared in 2008's Max Payne adaptation.

Logue, Rook, and Gao join the previously announced cast of the rebooted film, which includes Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy and Neal McDonough as William Birkin. Writing and directing the movie will be 47 Meters Down helmer Johannes Roberts.

The new film will take place in 1998 across a single night, detailing the zombie outbreak in Raccoon City. Created by Constantin Films, the origin story will reportedly stay faithful to the first game. Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems will distribute in North America, the same company that produced the original film.
