Fans can now jump back into the story of Leon S. Kennedy in the remake of Resident Evil 4. Almost ten years after the original's release in 2005, many players are interested to see how the game may have been improved for the remake. However, this has also left PC fans wondering if their systems can run the game or if it's time for an upgrade.

Graphics aren't the only thing that has improved over the years. Processors and memory requirements have all increased between Resident Evil 4's initial debut and what has been shown in trailers. Thankfully both recommended and minimum requirements have been shared for those wanting to enjoy the survival horror classic on their computers.

Core i7 8700

Core i7 12700K

AMD

Ryzen 3 1200

Ryzen 5 3600

Ryzen 7 3700X

The minimum CPU requirement to run Resident Evil 4 is an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or an Intel Core i5-7500. These set a decent benchmark and have been out for a while, so most gamers should be able to meet these requirements. To play the game at the recommended settings, players will need either an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or an Intel Core i7 8700. Even at the recommended level, players will not need the newest processors on the market, and they should be able to enjoy the game at 60FPS with little to no issues.

There is no equipment listed for an Ultra mode, but given other game requirements like The Last of Us part I, it can be inferred that most likely a Ryzen 7 3700X to Ryzen 9 5900 X or an Intel Core i7 12700K to an Intel Core i9-9900k. These would be the next few generations up from what is needed at the minimal level and a generation or two from the recommended settings. Still, they are on par with what many AAA titles releasing in the current generation are requiring for systems to run smoothly if a player wishes to play with all settings maxed.

NVIDIA

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

GeForce GTX 1070

GeForce RTX 2060

AMD

Radeon RX 560

Radeon RX 5700

Radeon RX 6700 XT

The GPU requirements for Resident Evil 4 are surprisingly low. At the minimum, players only need an AMD Radeon RX 560 with 4GBN VRAM or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB VRAM. These graphics cards are over five years old, so anyone interested in the game may already meet and exceed the minimum GPU requirements if they have been playing other AAA releases like Forspoken. The recommended GPU is not much of a step up from the minimum requirements, consisting of an AMD Radeon RX 5700 or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070. The recommended GPU should allow players to enjoy the game with decent graphics, and even if a player does not want to upgrade to a high-end GPU, they may want to use a small step up from the recommended level, so they can enjoy the brutal visuals that have been shown in stills from the game.

Much like the CPU requirements, no information is provided for what would be needed to play with the highest visuals possible. Given the relatively low requirements listed at the recommended level, players likely do not need to spring for the GeForce 40 series, which is what was required for Ultra 4K for Hogwarts Legacy. However, the Steam page does specify that if players wish to use ray tracing, they will need, at minimum, an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060.

Resident Evil 4 Remake RAM and Storage Requirements

Recommended System Requirements

RAM

8GB

16GB

No storage requirement is listed for Resident Evil 4, though the game will likely require a minimum of 40GB of memory. Still, it could go upwards of 60GB. Like with many games for faster load times, players will want to place the game on either a NvMe or SSD, though an HHD will work just fine. For RAM requirements, players will need a minimum of 8GB of RAM, but it is recommended they have 16GB. In situations involving RAM, it is best to aim for the recommended as RAM will boost the responsiveness and load times, and help players reach 60FPS instead of an estimated performance of 45FPS using the minimum requirements.
