Resident Alien Gets Series Order at Syfy

Alan Tudyk

Last year, SyFy announced it was ordering a pilot for an adaptation of the Dark Horse comic series Resident Alien. Now, it seems like the cast and crew behind the show hav eimpressed the network enough that it's willing to take the next step.

Deadline reports that the show, which will be executive produced by Chris Sheridan (Family Guy), has been officially ordered to series. David Dobkin (The Judge) executive produced and directed the pilot, and will presumably remain on the show in some capacity.

The series, which is based on the Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse comic series of the same name, will center around an alien who crash-lands on Earth and assumes the identity of a small town doctor named Harry Vanderspeigle. While serving the small town and getting to know the people who live there, "Harry" begins to rethink his actual mission on the planet, and the ramifications it may have for humanity.

Alan Tudyk is set to star in the series as Harry, with Levi Fiehler (The Fosters), Corey Reynolds (The Closer), Sara Tomko (Once Upon A Time) and Alice Wetterlund (People of Earth) filling out the main cast. The pilot (and now full series) is slated to begin production this summer.
