SyFy recently released a first look at the upcoming sci-fi/comedy series starring Alan Tudyk, Resident Alien

The teaser gives audiences a good look at Tudyk's Harry Vanderspeigle, who introduces himself as a doctor and attempts to assure a suspicious human that he is "not an alien," which, as the trailer goes on to show, he most definitely is.

Resident Alien is based on a comic of the same name, created by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse and released through Dark Horse Comics. The comic series, which ran from 2012 to 2018, focused on an alien posing as a doctor in a town called Patience.

The SyFy series looks to have a similar plot to the original comic, but there will likely be several differences. Back in October, series executive producer Chris Sheridan spoke on some of the changes that would be made from the comic, such as providing Harry with a clear goal early on.

Alan Tudyk should feel right at home in the SyFy series as the actor is no stranger to science fiction. He has appeared in popular several popular sci-fi series, including Firefly and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Tudyk has also had roles in I, Robot, Serenity and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

SyFy's Resident Alien stars Alan Tudyk, Levi Fiehler, Sara Tomko and Alice Wetterlund. The series is set to release in summer 2020.
