Rescue Me Star Michael Zegen Joins AMC's The Walking Dead

Less than before its second-season premiere, AMC's The Walking Dead has added one more name to its list of survivors.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Rescue Me alum Michael Zegen has signed on for the recurring role of Randall, a character that doesn't appear in the acclaimed horror comic by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. He's described in vague terms as "a skinny Southern kid who finds himself in a rather unique set of post-apocalypse circumstances."

Zegen, who's best known as probie firefighter Damien Keefe on FX's Rescue Me, also has a recurring role as Bugsy Siegel on HBO's Prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire.

The Walking Dead kicks off its 13-episode season with a 90-minute premiere Sunday, Oct. 16, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
