Serving as the forerunner for the Valiant Cinematic Universe, 2020's Bloodshot – starring Vin Diesel as the titular hero – has reportedly received its first plot synopsis.

According to Geeks WorldWide, the synopsis is as follows:

After he and his wife are murdered, Marine Ray Garrison (played by Vin Diesel) is resurrected by a secret team of scientists. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman, biotech killing machine – "Bloodshot." As Ray first trains with fellow super-soldiers, he cannot recall anything from his former life. But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both he and his beautiful wife, he breaks out of the facility hellbent on revenge, only to discover that there's more to the conspiracy than he thought.

This adaptation, which is reportedly aiming for an R-rating, seems to follow the modern incarnation of Bloodshot's origin story, laid out in 2012's Bloodshot #0 by Matt Kindt, ChrissCross, Moose Bauman and Dave Sharpe.

While the cinematic incarnation of Bloodshot will sport the same nanotech of his comics namesake, the exact extent of his powers remains unknown at this time. In the comics, Bloodshot is able to regenerate, shape-shift and fully integrate with other machines.

Bloodshot will serve as the first of five films that will form the Valiant Cinematic Universe, whose overarching plot will cover the Valiant Comics crossover event known as The Harbinger Wars.
