It appears another release date postponement for Venom: Let There Be Carnage may not be in the cards after all.

According to Variety, an unnamed inside source at Sony Pictures deemed previous reports about the project shifting its release date to January 2022 untrue. Sony hasn't officially commented on the matter one way or another.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is no stranger to release date delays. Initially set for an October 2020 debut, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced the production to postpone its release until June 2021 before further pushing its release to September. Sony gave Let There Be Carnage a final delay into October in response to a surge in the COVID-19 delta variant.

Now-debunked rumors of Venom: Let There Be Carnage's delay emerged as Hollywood studios grapple with how to release its slate of fall 2021 titles. MGM, for example, is opting to give The Addams Family 2 a simultaneous launch as a video on demand rental with its theatrical run. Sony, meanwhile, abandoned plans for a theatrical launch for Hotel Transylvania: Transformania and instead sold it Amazon Prime Video for a reported $100 million sum.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage arrives in theaters Oct. 15.
