Report: “Supergirl” Moving Production to Vancouver to Cut Costs

Following the report that the delayed renewal for “Supergirl” is hinging on budget cuts for Season 2, a new report indicates that the series is eyeing to move production from Los Angeles to Vancouver, to reduce costs.

According to Deadline, a source tells them, “[‘Supergirl’] is seriously considering moving production from Los Angeles to Vancouver next season.” They note that the move would make logistic sense for producer Greg Berlanti, whose other superhero shows, “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” already film in Vancouver.

A move to Vancouver could reduce that budget enough that the chances of a renewal at CBS — or perhaps another network, like the CW, which is owned 50/50 by CBS and Warner Bros. — could be more likely.
