Although "Goosebumps" doesn't premiere for more than a month, Sony Pictures reportedly is already making plans for a sequel to the Jack Black horror-comedy.
Given the popularity of R.L. Stine's books, and Hollywood's focus on franchises, that's not exactly a surprise, but there you have it.
According to The Tracking Board, the sequel plans are obviously in the early stages, and any movement will hinge on the box-office performance of the first film. However, the studio is said to already be on the hunt for a writer.
Directed by Rob Letterman, the film centers on teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette), who moves to a small town and meets new neighbor Hannah (Odeya Rush). Her father, “Goosebumps” author R.L. Stine (Black), keeps all the ghosts and monsters from the series locked up in his books. When Zach unintentionally releases them, he, Hannah and Stine must team up to return the ghouls before it’s too late.
“Goosebumps” opens Oct. 16.
