The Daily Show correspondent Ronny Chieng has reportedly joined the cast of the upcoming Marvel Studios film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

According to DiscussingFilm, boarded Shang-Chi's cast before the film's production was halted as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, though Marvel Studios has not released an official statement on the matter. At this time, there is no information regarding which Marvel character Chieng will be playing if DiscussingFilm's information proves correct.

Chieng appeared in a number of Australian television shows, including This is Littleton and It's a Date, before becoming a correspondent on The Daily Show. In 2017, Cheing would star in his own comedy series called Ronny Chieng: International Student. The actor also appeared in the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians and has a stand-up comedy special on Netflix titled Asian Comedian Destroys America!.

In March, the production on Shang-Chi  -- which was taking place in Sydney -- was suspended, with similar fates befalling the Marvel Studios TV shows WandaVision and The Falcon and Winter Soldier. It is unclear when production on these projects will resume. Shang-Chi was originally intended to release on Feb. 12, 2021 has now been moved moved to May 7, 2021.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Tony Leung and Awkwafina. The is slated to hit theaters May 7, 2021.
