Report: Robert Rodriguez Negotiating To Take On Deadpool

The long gestating rumor that Sin City and Predators mastermind Robert Rodriguez would take on the Merc with a Mouth apparently have some weight, as the filmmaker is reportedly in talks to direct Deadpool for Fox.

The Los Angeles Times reports that after reading the screenplay written by Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Rodriguez has decided to negotiate with Fox to direct the Ryan Reynolds-starring X-Men Origins spinoff. The report notes that "the sides need to agree on a number of key points, but it's moved beyond the casual discussion stage and into the more substantive realm of deal points."

Even if he winds up behind the lens on Deadpool, Rodrigez first has plans to film the fourth installment in the Spy Kids franchise. His next movie, Machete, arrives in theaters this fall.
