Marvel Studios' Black Widow has reportedly added actor Ray Winstone in an undisclosed role.

News of Winstone's casting was first broken by Variety. The actor is best known for his role in films such as The Departed and Hugo. Unsurprisingly, like with the castings of David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family) before him, no information was made available regarding the character Winstone will play.

Production on Black Widow is currently underway, with filming taking place in Budapest. Thus far, only lead Scarlett Johansson has been photographed on set. However, Pugh teased her arrival in Budapest earlier today, suggesting we may get our first look of her on set relatively soon. And while details regarding her role remain under wraps, rumors state she will be portraying none other than Yelena Belova.

In addition to Johannson, Pugh, Harbour and now Winstone, O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid's Tale) and Rachel Weisz have also reportedly boarded the project. Although, these reports remain unconfirmed. Little is known regarding the plot of Black Widow and the set photos have yet to help yield any information. However, reports indicate the film is a prequel to The Avengers, rather than the speculated Captain America: Civil War.

With Marvel Studios set to return to Hall H at Comic Con International: San Diego next month, it's expected that we'll get a better idea of what to expect from the film, as it will already be a few months into filming by that point. For now, we can only continue to speculate how the film's ever-growing cast will fit into the story set in Natasha's past.

Directed by Cate Shortland with a script by Ned Benson, Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson and is rumored to be released on May 1, 2020.
