Netflix will continue to expand the world of The Witcher, according to a new report.Netflix is considering a spinoff focusing on the history of magic in The Witcher with a particular focus on the mages, claims Redanian Intelligence. Magic is a prominent force in the world of The Witcher, with Geralt being able to utilize it himself. Mages also wield great political power in addition to their spellcasting. Geralt's lover Yennefer is a powerful sorceress who was trained by the Brotherhood of Sorcerers, eventually joining their ranks.

The Witcher has recently resumed filming Season 2 as production was shut down in mid-March due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In addition to Blood Origin, Netflix is also developing an anime film titled Nightmare of the Wolf which will be animated by Studio Mir (Voltron: Legendary Defender, The Legend of Korra) and features Geralt's mentor Vesemir. Blood Origin will take place 1200 years before the events of the show and focus on the first Witcher.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix.
