Matt Damon might appear in Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder.

The Oscar-winning actor and his family were spotted exiting a private jet in Sydney, where the fourth Thor film is being filmed, according to the Australian outlet News.com. Damon is also reported to be quarantining, suggesting that he's preparing for filming on the nearby set.

While Damon's alleged role in the film remains a mystery, the actor made a surprise cameo in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, portraying Loki in a play in Asgard.

Thor: Love and Thunder is the fourth Thor-centric movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was previously revealed that the latest installment is inspired by The Mighty Thor comic books, and will see Natalie Portman's Jane Foster taking over the godly powers of Thor.

Actor Tessa Thompson, who portrays Valkyrie in the MCU, also confirmed in December 2020 that her character will have a new title in the 2022 film. "Yeah. I can tease that she's definitely King of New Asgard when we find her," Thompson said. "I would say that she's a part of an adventure that involved Thor, in the sense that it's called Thor: Love and Thunder."

Thompson added, "We have some new characters. We have some folks potentially from other pockets of the MCU. And then we have some folks, maybe, that we've seen before."

When fans last saw Thor -- at the close of Avengers: Endgame -- the God of Thunder was headed back into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy crew.

Nathan Fillion also had small roles in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, while British actor and director Kenneth Branagh provided the audio for the distress call about Thanos' attack at the start of Avengers: Infinity War.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
