The official title for The Matrix 4 has been revealed, and it may hint at how two characters will make their return.Shunika Terry, who worked as a makeup artist on the film, posted an image on Instagram of the wrap gift she received after filming ended. Nerding Reviews posted a screenshot of the gift on Twitter, along with the film's possible title -- The Matrix: Resurrection. If true, this would keep in line with the sequels' naming convention, as evidenced by The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions.RELATED: The Matrix Trilogy Arrives on HBO Max in February

The title may also hint at the "resurrection" of Neo and Trinity, as both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are reprising their roles for the sequel. During the events of The Matrix: Revolutions, Trinity died during an expedition to the city of the machines and Neo sacrificed himself in a final battle with Agent Smith.

Reeves previously confirmed that The Matrix: Resurrection will not be a prequel, and will take place after the events of The Matrix: Revolutions. Principal photography concluded in November after a five month delay due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Directed by Lana Wachowski, Matrix 4 stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff. The film arrives in theaters and on HBO Max Dec. 22, 2021.
