A new report lists June as the month filming begins on Marvel’s “Ant-Man and The Wasp,” the sequel to 2015’s surprise hit “Ant-Man.”
My Entertainment World lists a shooting date of June 2017 in Atlanta, which has become home for Marvel Studios productions, including “Ant-Man,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” The studio will also serve as a primary filming location for “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Black Panther.”
“Ant-Man and The Wasp” marks the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, who will suit up as the superhero Wasp. Michael Douglas will reprise his role as scientist Hank Pym, along with Michael Pena as the lovable criminal Luis.
Lilly’s Wasp will mark the first time a female character headlines a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, beating “Captain Marvel” to theaters by a year.
Released in July 2015, director Peyton Reed’s “Ant-Man” grossed $519.3 million worldwide, and earned generally favorable reviews.
Directed by Reed from a script by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, “Ant-Man and the Wasp” opens July 6, 2018.
