If a new report is to be believed, Paul Bettany's Vision could soon be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for his very own Disney+ original series.

According to insider Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast, Marvel Studios is developing a Vision solo series titled Vision Quest (not to be confused with the 1985 Matthew Modine wrestling movie of the same name). "I'm told that next week, Marvel will be opening a writers' room for a Vision show titled Vision Quest," Sneider said. He went on to state that this information is "coming from a good source who has been accurate in the past." Interestingly, Sneider recently correctly reported that Harrison Ford would be joining the MCU as its new Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, lending credence to his newest scoop.

Furthermore, "Vision Quest" is the name of a late-1980s Marvel Comics storyline starring Vision, which played out within the pages of West Coast Avengers. In the arc, Vision was dismantled, his artificial skin was turned white and he lost the ability to fell emotions -- the latter of which ultimately led to his separation from Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Of course, MCU fans already saw a version of these events play out in the latter portion of Marvel Studios' debut Disney+ series, WandaVision. That said, Sneider says he doesn't know if Marvel Studios' Vision Quest will directly adapt the comic arc of the same name.

Vision's MCU Journey Thus Far

The aforementioned Paul Bettany made his MCU debut in the franchise's very first film, Iron Man (2008), as the voice of Tony Stark/Iron Man's A.I. assistant, J.A.R.V.I.S. Bettany subsequently reprised his role as J.A.R.V.I.S. in Iron Man 2 (2010), The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

It was also in Age of Ultron that Bettany stepped into the role of the superhero known as the Vision, who was created when the core software of J.A.R.V.I.S. was uploaded into the vibranium body created by Ultron. Bettany reprised his role as Vision in Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018), with the synthetic hero meeting his demise at the hands of Thanos in the latter film.

However, Bettany again reprised the role in the Disney+ series WandaVision, which premiered in 2021 to kick off Phase Four of the MCU. In the series, Vision's grief-stricken lover, Wanda Maximoff -- played by Elizabeth Olsen -- created a fake Vision as part of her larger reality-morphing Hex on the town of Westview. The remains of the real Vision, meanwhile, were being experimented on by S.W.O.R.D., leading to the creation of "White Vision."

Acting S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward used Wanda's powers to activate White Vision, whose memories had been erased. On his quest to defeat Wanda, White Vision ended up doing battle with Hex Vision, with the latter restoring his counterpart's memories following a philosophical discussion. White Vision then flew away to contemplate what he has learned, leaving his future uncertain. Later, Hex Vision ceased to exist when Wanda finally brought herself to let him go. (Wanda herself seemingly met her demise in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.) Based on Sneider's report, it seems as though Marvel Studios may be revisiting White Vision in the near future.

Notably, WandaVision already has one spinoff in the works in the form of Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which is slated to premiere in late 2023/early 2024 as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
