A major villain may be making their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it is reported Marvel Studios is holding casting calls for a character who sounds suspiciously like Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin.

Geeks WorldWide (formerly Omega Underground) claims to have received a casting breakdown for a character code named “The Benefactor.” Marvel is reportedly looking for "a male actor, preferably Caucasian, in their 40s to 60s. The actor will shoot their scene sometime this year in Atlanta."

While no official statement has been made, the description certainly fits the look of Norman Osborn, who has been rumored to be joining the MCU for Phase 4 for a while. It's also interesting to note that the secondary antagonist in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp, Sonny Burch, was employed by someone known as The Benefactor. We never saw Burch's boss on screen, and the plotline he was involved in was left semi-unresolved.

Norman Osborn as the main villain in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man film as portrayed by Willem Dafoe. The character also appeared in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 where he was portrayed by Chris Cooper. Though Marvel shares Spider-Man and his supporting cast with Sony, who ultimately controls the characters' film rights, the studios' relationship has been on good terms, and may allow one of Spidey's main villains to play a major role in the MCU's next phase.
