A new report suggests that if Warner Bros.' upcoming film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as DC Comics' Black Adam is well-received, a spinoff film starring the Justice Society of America may not be far behind.

According to Johnson himself, Black Adam is set to feature the big screen debut of the JSA. Citing an anonymous inside source, The Illuminerdi now claims that Warner Bros. is "evaluating" the original superhero team for their very own feature film. The outlet says a new film franchise that puts the JSA front and center hinges on the "critical, commercial and fan reception" towards the team when they appear in Black Adam come late 2021.

However, bear in mind that even if this report is accurate, it does not mean a JSA movie is in active development. In fact, The Illuminerdi itself says such a claim "would be an exaggeration," as the prospective film does not currently have any cast or crew members attached to it. Nevertheless, the outlet reiterates that Warner Bros. is "considering this property as an option" as the studio continues to move forward with Black Adam.

Itself a spinoff of 2019's Shazam!, Black Adam stars Johnson as the eponymous character -- a villain/anti-hero who was once the champion of the wizard Shazam, before falling from grace. Production on the film was recently pushed back as a result of the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, though -- at this time -- it is still expected to arrive in theaters on Dec. 22, 2021.

Of course, while Black Adam seems set to feature the cinematic debut of the JSA, the team does actually already have a live-action presence -- playing a key role in the recently-premiered DC Universe/The CW television series Stargirl. Still, a full-blown film starring the classic team is sure to be an exciting prospect for many DC fans.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Dec. 22, 2021.
