At the end of "Thor: The Dark World," Loki successfully became the ruler of Asgard by disguising himself as Odin. The latest report from Geek.com claims Loki's reign will open the door for a new villain, who will assume the role of primary antagonist in "Thor: Ragnarok": Hela, Queen of Hel.

According to the report, Hela will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe in her signature cloak and with sovereignty over the dead. She will be working with Loki, whose motivations are unknown at this time, and she will be the one who kicks off Thor's journey in the film after she banishes him from Asgard and destroys Mjolnir. The report speculates that she may stand in for Death, the object of Thanos' unrequited love, in "Avengers: Infinity War."

Considering that "Lord of the Rings" star Cate Blanchett has been circling a role in "Thor: Ragnarok," it seems likely she'll play Hela. Mark Ruffalo -- who will also appear in the film -- confirmed she was in talks for a part and even hinted at the villainous nature of her role, saying, "She's just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting."

Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth in his latest turn as the titular God of Thunder, "Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled for release on November 3, 2017.
