A new report suggests that filming for the upcoming “Black Panther” film will be underway in less than a month. The news comes a few weeks after the casting of revered actress Angela Bassett as the titular hero’s mother, Ramonda.
According to OLV, “Black Panther” will start production in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 15, 2017. The film will begin shooting at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios.
Chadwick Boseman will star in the film as T’Challa, the king of Wakanda and holder of the Black Panther mantle. The character made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in “Captain America: Civil War,” where he sided with Iron Man against Captain America’s team. Over the course of the film, he assumed the title of King of Wakanda, like his father before him, and donned the mantle of Black Panther in his quest for revenge.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, “Black Panther” stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia and Danai Gurira as Okoye, among many others. The film opens Feb. 16, 2018.
