Veteran actor and singer René Auberjonois has passed away at the age of 79.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Auberjonois died in his Los Angeles home today -- Sunday, Dec. 8 -- following a battle with metastatic lung cancer. The actor's passing was confirmed by his son, Remy Auberjonois.

Auberjonois is well-known for playing the character Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. His other television roles include Paul Lewiston on Boston Legal and Clayton Endicott III on Benson -- a role that earned him an Emmy nomination. In the world of film, he played such characters as Father Mulcahy in 1970's MASH, Roy Bagley in the 1976 version of King Kong, Chef Louis 1989's The Little Mermaid and Flanigan in 1997's Cats Don't Dance. It was in The Little Mermaid that Auberjonois sang the song "Les Poissons."

He also racked up numerous video game voice acting credits over the years. Auberjonois voiced Talos in 2005's God of War, Mr. House in 2010's Fallout: New Vegas and Karl Schafer in the Uncharted series. He even reprised his role as Odo for the MMO Star Trek Online.
