In a world where Superman is no more, there's understandably going to be a sizable power vacuum. In the upcoming DC animated film, Reign of the Supermen, four new heroes will rise to fill the void following The Death of Superman.
Warner Bros. Animation has debuted a new poster for the film ahead of its 2019 release, showing off the Supermen in all their glory. Viewers can get a lock at the Eradicator charging up a blast, Superboy taking flight in his classic '90s-inspired costume, Steel soaring over Metropolis and Cyborg Superman floating just outside Earth's atmosphere.
Based on the 1993 DC comics storyline of the same name, Reign of the Supermen revolves around the variants of the iconic hero as they seek to carve out their own legacies. All the while, a mourning Lois Lane does everything in her power to find out whether one of these Supermen could be a reborn version of the Clark Kent, who sacrificed himself in a battle against Doomsday.
In a previously released sneak peek at Reign of the Supermen, the film's crew explained what can be expected from each of these new characters Superboy was described as "Superman if he had been raised by the Kardashians." Steel, on the other hand, is meant to represent the "humanity and heart that Superman brings to the show." Meanwhile, the Eradicator represents "the quarter of Superman that is the Last Son of Krypton." Finally, Cyborg Superman was simply described as embodying "the power of Superman."
Directed by Sam Liu, Reign on the Supermen stars Cameron Monaghan, Jerry O'Connell, Cress Williams, Patrick Fabian, Rebecca Romijn, Nathan Fillion, Rainn Wilson, Toks Olagundoye and Nyambi Nyambi. It is set to be released in 2019.
