Despite earlier indications, Cineworld, owner of the movie theater chain Regal Cinemas, has announced it will reopen locations in early July.In a recent statement, Cineworld announced that subject to restrictions being lifted "and confirmation of the schedule for film releases, Cineworld anticipates the reopening of all of its cinemas in July." The statement then added, "Cineworld has put in place procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable cinema experience for its employees and customers."RELATED: AMC Theaters' Bankruptcy Risk Takes A Positive UpswingThis news comes just days after Regal Cinemas indicated the chain had no current plans to reopen its locations. On May 26, the Regal announced on social media, "We have not made a decision when to reopen. We continue to work with authorities and studios in order to host our audiences and show them the big blockbusters in a safe environment. As soon as we have an opening date, we will share." While no specific date has been set for the reopening of Cineworld's movie theater chains, contrary to Regal's earlier tweet, it does appear there are plans to get Regal locations up and running again.

Back in the mid-March, Cineworld-owned movie theaters, as well as all other movie theater chains, closed their doors in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Major chains like AMC and Cinemark have still given no indication of when they will reopen. However, other select chains have begun the work to reopen their locations. iPic, for example, has cemented plans to reopen two of their locations in early June.
