Clap your hands if you believe Reese Witherspoon will play Tinker Bell on the big-screen -- because The Hollywood Reporter says it's happening. The industry outlet states that Witherspoon is on board to star in and produce "Tink," a live-action film focused on the famous fairy from "Peter Pan." THR's story compares it to "Maleficent," in that's a previously untold story focused on a supporting character from a Disney classic.
"Finding Dory" screenwriter Victoria Strouse is writing the script for "Tink," which does not yet have a director attached. "Tink" has been in motion at Disney since at least 2010, with Elizabeth Banks attached to star at the time.
Disney has had big success with live-action adaptations of its animated classics -- 2010's "Alice in Wonderland," 2014's "Maleficent" and this spring's "Cinderella" have all been hits. Tinker Bell is a character with major current exposure among young Disney fans, as the star of an ongoing series of direct-to-home release animated features that started in 2008.
