ReedPOP, the organizer of Star Wars Celebration, has planned a virtual Star Wars convention, in light of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The two-day online event, entitled An Online Revelry: May the 4th Be With You and An Online Revelry: Revenge of the 5th, will take place, as the names suggest, on May 4-5. The two dates in recent years have become associated with Star Wars because of their franchise-related wordplay.

Events include streaming of selected theatrical films and episodes of the animated series, Q&A sessions with associated actors and creators, and live role-playing games. The programming will stream across ReedPOP's various social media platforms.

The online convention is unrelated to ReedPOP's Star Wars Celebration event, currently scheduled for August 27-30 in Anaheim. That event so far has not been postponed or canceled due to coronavirus concerns. Other pop culture events have been impacted by the pandemic -- Comic-Con International: San Diego, originally scheduled for July, has been canceled, and ReedPOP's Emerald City Comic Con, originally scheduled for August, has been postponed.

ReedPOP also puts together the annual New York Comic Con and C2E2 conventions. C2E2 went on as scheduled in February in Chicago, before the severity of the pandemic was fully known. New York Comic Con remains scheduled for October 8-11.
