Hoping to follow in the footsteps of Wonder Woman, Millennium Films has gone full speed ahead with its forthcoming Red Sonja live action film. The studio announced today that Ashley Edward Miller has been hired to work on the screenplay.

Miller previously worked on superhero films Thor and X-Men: First Class and has credits on successful genre shows like AndromedaTerminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Fringe and Black Sails. He is currently consulting on the second season of Amazon's Lore anthology series and is working on Fox's Big Trouble in Little China film.

When asked about the Red Sonja job, Miller said, "It’s an exciting opportunity to faithfully adapt the amazing Hyborean world Robert E. Howard created, and inject it with Sonja’s intelligence, ferocity, and fearless humanity.” He was clear about his intentions for the film, saying, “I want people to love Sonja the way I love her, and walk out of the theater understanding why she’s so popular and enduring. Sonja is an icon.”

Since the success of Wonder Woman in 2017, the Red Sonja reboot has been fast-tracked by the studio. The project is being financed and produced by Millennium, along with Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon of Cinelou, Christa Campbell & Lati Grobman and Red Sonja rights holder Luke Lieberman.
