Pre-production continues on Marvel Studios' She-Hulk television series for Disney+, with a new report listing a familiar face from the Marvel Cinematic Universe appearing in a radically different role: General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.

According to Geeks WorldwideWilliam Hurt is poised to reprise his role as the MCU's U.S. Secretary of State, who has a longstanding animosity towards Bruce Banner and—in the comics—a gamma-powered alter ego. The report claims Ross will transform into the Red Hulk over the course of the series, mirroring his comic book counterpart's own super-powered character arc.

The Red Hulk was introduced in 2008's Hulk #1 by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness, eventually revealed to be General Ross transformed by the fiendish M.O.D.O.K. With Ross inadvertently helping create the Hulk and the Abomination in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, his own transformation into the Red Hulk may be the result of continued genetic tampering. It is currently unknown how prominently Ross and the Red Hulk will figure in the upcoming television series and if he will be a friend or foe to Jennifer Walters.

Hurt's return for She-Hulk has been unconfirmed by Marvel Studios, but he will reprise his role in an unknown capacity this May in Black Widow. Principal photography on She-Hulk is expected to begin this July.
