WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Task Force Z #1, on sale now from DC Comics.

Across his superhero career, both as Robin and the Red Hood, Jason Todd has served on his fair share of superhero teams. From being a prominent member of the Bat Family to an ersatz member of the Teen Titans and de facto leader of the Outlaws, Jason is a surprisingly prolific track record for someone that considers himself something of a lone wolf. And now as the field leader of the zombified team Task Force Z, Jason leads several undead Batman villains to defend the DC Universe in their own creepy and kooky way.

Here are all the members of the initial Task Force Z lineup, and how each fan-favorite figure has found themself serving on the clandestine team of misfits and monsters as introduced in Task Force Z #1 by Matthew Rosenberg, Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, Adriano Lucas and Rob Leigh.

Red Hood

Red Hood Future State

While Jason Todd is decidedly not a zombie, he definitely has had his own infamous encounter with death at the hands of the Joker. Beaten within an inch of his life by the crowbar-wielding maniac, Jason was killed in a subsequent bomb blast before he was resurrected after a dip in the Lazarus Pit, taking on the more lethal antihero alter ego the Red Hood before eventually working his way back into the Bat Family's good graces.

After investigating reports of supervillain cadavers being stolen, Jason was apprehended by the FBI and brought in line to not only work for them but to lead the team they were forming of undead supervillains recovered from the ruins of Arkham Asylum, with each figure given zombified lease on life due to resin from the Lazarus Pit fashioned into edibles.

Bane

Batman's foe, Bane, from DC Comics

After being imprisoned in Arkham following his latest attempt to break Batman and seize control of Gotham, Bane was among the most prominent victims killed in when the asylum was followed with deadly Joker toxin. While a new Bane has since surfaced in Santa Prisca and the Joker was revealed to be framed for the attack, the original Bane has since been brought back to unlike through the Lazarus resin.

Even in his zombie form, Bane remains a hulking powerhouse and Jason is shown having difficulty controlling the musclebound supervillain, pacifying him with a resin edible before Bane can tear their target Crazy Quilt in half. A later skirmish has Bane endure being hit by Mister Freeze's signature ice gun point blank, still mindlessly raging despite being icily incapacitated.

Man-Bat

A monstrous iteration of the Jekyll-and-Hyde dynamic, Kirk Langstrom has long been held at the mercy of his feral side as the fearsome Man-Bat. Man-Bat has often flirted the side of heroism and villainy, including being a short-lived member of Justice League Dark before injecting himself with Venom in a desperate bid to stabilize his condition only to result in his death sometime later.

Like Bane, Man-Bat remains difficult for Jason to control, even with the Lazarus resin edibles. Man-Bat nearly eats Crazy Quilt and, when Task Force Z is dispatched to bust up a resin-smuggling operation helmed by Mr. Freeze, Man-Bat actually gets to sink his teeth into one of Freeze's henchmen despite Jason's orders to avoid using lethal force.

Arkham Knight

Arkham Knight Batman Future State

In another life, Jason Todd was the Arkham Knight, an armored vigilante that fought crime by openly employing lethal force, putting him in direct conflict with Batman. However, in the main DCU, the Arkham Knight is Astrid Arkham, the daughter of Arkham Asylum warden Jeremiah Arkham who grew up inside of the asylum surrounded by the most deranged minds in Gotham City.

While Astrid is hinted at surviving and continuing to serve as the Arkham Knight in the Future State alternate timeline, she is very much undead in Task Force Z, with her glimpsed visage as monstrous as several of her teammates. And while Task Force Z is able to rein in the Arkham Knight from eating their prisoners, Astrid is still prone to using excessive force on the field, much to Jason's visible chagrin.

Mister Bloom

Other than Jason, the only none zombie member of Task Force Z is Mister Bloom, a villain introduced during the New 52 era by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. Bloom experimented on himself with experimental plant technology to transform into a supervillain capable of elasticity, superhuman strength and speed and the ability to manipulate his body to take on different forms.

After first menacing Jim Gordon during the retired police commissioner's brief stint as Batman, Bloom appears to be genuinely interested in seeking redemption in the eyes of the law, approaching Jason to show his support. However, as Bloom ponders if their overseers have been entirely truthful with him, Bloom is brushed by Jason who instead focuses on the task at hand.
